The act of bathing, as a ritual, is a bit in dispute amongst certain people. There are some, that will do absolutely anything and everything to have an excuse to not wash themselves. On the other hand, there are those that will immediately jump at the opportunity to get wet, break out the soap, and start scrubbing off bits of dirt. And then there's everyone in-between.

The question of when is the best time to shower is also greatly disputed. Some prefer it in the evening, as a way of unknotting tense muscles after a long day of hard work. Others, will wash in the morning as the final step to waking up. Whenever it is that you actually do it, you definitely don't want to ignore your shower. The key to enjoying a good shower is in the design, making sure that the area is warm and welcoming, and that every piece of equipment is within reach.

And while you're thinking about these designs, why not add a bit of creative flair to it? The shower is an intimate area, wherein you can practice your singing as loud as you like. So, when designing it, try to make it a reflection of your personality. And, if you're looking for inspiration, below are some great examples of unique showers that will definitely get you going.

1. Pixels

Pixels already play a huge role in our lives. From your television set, to the smartphone in your hand, most of what we see on a day to day basis is thanks to pixels. And this first shower does a great job trying to replicate that experience. By choosing this pattern of multi-coloured little blocks, this corner is trying to copy what is hiding behind every screen.

Not only does this shower do a great job off creating something fun and modern to look at, but it is also great for waking up the creative side of your brain. Soon, you will start seeing new images in the multitude of dots, urging you to be creative. If you're looking for something that will both wake up your body and mind, this is a great place to start.

2. Double

The architects, over at Arquitetura e Interior, tried to do something a little bit different. Instead of building one large shower, they decided to split it in two! While this is a hard trick to pull off, they manage to do it with a flourish. A lot of that is thanks to the materiel they decided to use. Glass is an excellent choice here, as they can both act as a barrier and be invisible at the same time, letting the sun bath the whole room in light.

What's more, if it weren't for the split shower, there may not have been enough space for the bath. However, thanks to clever planning, these designers have given you plenty of choices, giving you the ability to go with whatever feels best.

3. White

Going all out white in a bathroom is a great choice. Not only does it give the whole place a more cleanly feel, but it also helps brighten the place up, given enough natural light. What's more, when using white as your main background, you can enhance all the other colours around it, giving them a bit more life.

Both the shower and the bath are very modern, and the sleek metal sheen mixes well with the white wallpaper. This combination also makes the area much more hi-tech, making it perfect for the 21st century person. If you love to live in the future, this design is perfectly suited for you.

4. Industrial

However, if you want to feel like you're actively making the future, rather than just living in it, then this shower was meant for you. The grey walls give the whole place a very industrial feel, making it seem like a work in progress. You can see bits of the future coming in from the wood paneling and the mirror doors. Both things hint at what the future may look like in a couple of years. If you like the style of the future, but want to be more active, this may be more up your alley.

5. Madeira

This super stylish shower manages to contrast a lovely and quiet shade a beige with the powerful and lively red. It tops it off with a very energetic wood floor. Despite these contrasting colours, the shower itself is quite well hidden, giving the room the sense that it all smoothly flows into one another, making the bathroom seem bigger and more fluid.

If taking showers isn't your thing, the room also comes with a bath. Instead of being elevated, this bath is built into the floor, giving you the unique experience of sliding in, possibly bringing up memories of sliding into a pool. If you're interested in how to perfectly switch from one section of the room to another, then this is a good place to study.

6. Green

Just like white, green can be used to bring out a sense of cleanliness and hygiene. Unlike white, there are plenty of shades of green to play around with, meaning that you have more space to experiment. Using a similar tile design to the one in the first picture, this shower manages to mix in a lot of different shades, and makes it work at the same time. Using the same colour is sometimes a bit tricky, so finding a design that can make it work is super important. Luckily, these tiles seem up for the job.

7. Curves

How about something completely different and definitely unique? This shower goes super modern, and makes it work thanks to the curved walls and the red and white pattern. If you want to live in the future and be unique at the same time, then the shape of the wall and the colours will help you feel like you're showering in some sort of futuristic space station.

8. Window

For those who live in the top floors of apartments, or in isolated houses, installing a window as big as possible is a great idea. All that sunlight pouring in will really brighten up the room, and also give you a feeling of freedom that very little else can. If you want a real treat each morning, then nothing can beat looking at a sunrise as you shower.

9. Natural

There's no better way to bring life into your shower space than by adding plants. When adding as many as in the picture above, you have to make sure to adapt the rest of the shower to all that colour. What the designers of this shower did, was choose neutral grey and browns to both make the green more impactful, and to give the whole place a tropical feel.  Sometimes to make one thing work, the other things have to be pushed into the background.

10. Gradient

Similar to the green pixels, another great way of playing with different shades of colours is with gradients. It gives the whole place a very modern feel, and makes you feel like the colours are slowly dripping down, just like the water. If you're up to playing around with colours, this is something that you can't miss out on.

Once you're done upgrading your bathroom, it's time to move on and work on something else. We would recommend you focus on the kitchen and with that, we'd like to offer you some inspiration in this handy guide that will help you get a designer kitchen in no time.
