Short-term rental is a growing trend, and has been growing substantially, especially in cities that thrive on tourism. The success of short-term renting is largely due to the comfort it allows, but above all the independence and having the feeling of being at home. As demand increases, supply is also diversifying and the owners of these properties need to provide them with value and make them desirable, while incurring the least expense.

There are a few tricks that can help you to do this, and we’re going to highlight a few today by examining a simple, but warm and pleasant property that’s perfect for a short holiday. The apartment, located in Madrid, is part of a set of apartments for short-term rental planned to make guests feel at home while they’re on holiday.

Superbly simple

We’re starting in the bedroom to emphasise a fundamental concept for decorating a house to rent: simplicity!

Although the house is ours, we won’t be enjoying it, so it’s best to go for simple and uncomplicated decoration. In a rental home the décor should be simple and neutral, regardless of the degree of luxury that you want to give, as the idea is to please as many people as possible. That being said, it should never be careless for the same reason.

Warm it up with wood

Simplicity can never be synonymous with cold or impersonal, as this will never captivate your target audience!  The environment should be warm and welcoming, with some details that make us feel at home.

Here the abundance of wood in the design makes the room a much warmer, cosier space; aided further by the yellow, warm lighting.

Details that make the difference

Simple though the design may be, there must always be something special that attracts attention so that we can choose one apartment over the other. Incorporate decorative elements that make a difference, but those that can also be easily removed and replaced, such as panels, wallpapers or wall stickers.  Here the designers opted for a set of stylised wall stickers with floral motifs that act as the headboard of the bed and contrast perfectly with the pure white of the wall. The textiles, also with black and white motifs, act as a natural continuation of the motifs of the wall and help to shape the comfortable and relaxed character of the décor.

Refined at a reasonable price

Let's be honest what we want is to monetize the investment, and therefore we want to shape the spaces with the minimum investment possible while still making them look attractive. The mosaic tiles on the wall of a bathroom are a practical solution; easy to maintain and affordable.

Function first

The kitchen, just like the other rooms, should always be practical. You don’t need to have the latest cooking equipment, but you must have the minimum required appliances.  In this kitchen the abundance of wood maintains aesthetic coherence with the rest of the house while fulfilling the required functions.

Spectacular stairs

The wooden staircase with a wrought iron railing is a visible testament to the history of the house. If your apartment for rent is the result of restoring of an old building do not deny its history, as a touch of the past conveys the space with a cosy charm.
