One of the best tests of a great design team is their ability to renovate an existing space rather than start from scratch. In the former scenario, the team has to work within the existing confines of a space that may have been botched originally or at least one that simply isn’t working. They take this defective foundation, come up with a vision that sees beyond the current state of affairs, and create something truly magnificent.

Today on homify360 we will be looking at a classy, contemporary home in Notting Hill by Reis London LTD that actually had its beginnings as a garage! In the confines of one garage the team was able to fit a spacious open plan consisting of a living room, dining room, and kitchen as well as a bathroom and master bedroom. As you will see, the home’s origins are pretty unbelievable because what exists now is truly beautiful.

Neutral living space with bold accents

The living room is spacious thanks to the open plan layout. Plus, it is quite homey due to the neutral colour palette and inclusion of thoughtful details like the paintings on the walls and the warm-toned oriental rug. The bold accent pillows do well to tie the overall colour scheme in the space together.

Contemporary kitchen

The kitchen is country contemporary style. The kitchen island helps to give it definition within the open layout. We love the use of the transitional space as a liquor cabinet and bar. The muted blue and grey cabinets go nicely with the predominating colour scheme of oranges, yellows, and reds.

Incorporating personal details

The awards and documents on the wall fit quite naturally within the overall colour scheme. The elongated dining table cleverly employs a popular trend by incorporating multi-coloured chairs to the look. This goes as proof that mixing up tradition and trend can still look both sophisticated and pulled together.

Classic transitional space

The designer’s attention to detail and aesthetic harmony is also apparent in the less central nooks of the home like the space by the stairs. Here we see a chocolate coloured leather ottoman accompanied by a lovely landscape painting. The simple addition of the throw blanket helps to bring cohesion to the look.

Sophisticated master bedroom

Something that sets this home apart from being just another pretty interior is the inclusion of artwork that helps to make a strong statement. On the first floor we saw several instances of this, and now the design team takes things in a different direction in the master bedroom.

Here we see a set of panels featuring abstract art, which give definition to the bed as the focal point of the room. The other décor is simple contemporary that allows the art to stand out.

Stylish master bath

To close our tour, let’s head into the stylish yet functional master bathroom. The subway tiles add a trendy, urban touch to the apartment, and the orchid brings a sense of elegance to the look. The built in shelving behind the sink and in the shower are ideal for stowing toiletries, while the glass shower door and mirror above the sink create a greater sense of spaciousness.
