A wine production facility that is used only 6 weeks of the year during grape harvest, shall be used as a location for events during the rest of the year. A clean, modern vineyard building mostly made of decorative face concrete. These two different types of use define two main requirements to the lighting: workplace lighting in accordance with DIN atmospheric lighting suitable for events. Due to the fact that we were commissioned only after all positions and wiring for lights had already been constructed in the face concrete, we had to work with these given positions to meet all these requirements. Workplace and atmospheric lighting as well as accent lighting had to be realized from just one luminaire position! Especially the client‘s wife‘s wish was that the lighting should compensate the coolness of the face concrete especially in the restaurant and all other customer areas. To achieve this, we created a lighting design that accentuates each table in the restaurant individually and glare-free with warm light (2700K) and a high CRI. Added vertical illumination of paintings and decorative items increase the lighting level of the surrounding. Infrared radiation can harm the expensive wine, so we decided to use high-CRI LED with a colour temperature of 2700K. Philips MasterLED retrofit lamps were used for this purpose. For different areas we created special luminaires: Grape processing area: ?In order to meet all requirements, we integrated LED of two different colour temperatures (3000 and 5000 K) and two different radiation angles in one luminaire. This makes it possible to have as much light output as possible for the workspace lighting during grape harvest, whereas during events, a warm spot characteristic is more suitable. Additionally, these luminaires include a corona of RGB modules that illuminate the ceiling. In the tasting room, we designed a pendant luminaire that is adapted exactly to the table thus enabling an atmospheric wine tasting. A minimalistic design allows a thickness of only 10 mm, but still integrating direct and indirect lighting that is individually dimmable. High CRI glare-free lighting is essential for this area. In the so-called Barrique cellar, the splendid wine is kept in wooden barrels decoratively shown. Very few luminaire positions had been defined when we entered the project. That‘s why we constructed a light channel in the middle of the room which provides space for workspace lights as well as atmospheric lighting. Additional RGB wallwashing luminaires light up the walls behind the barrels. These luminaires are well-shielded, so it isn‘t possible to see the light sources from the glass floor above, but only recognizes the warm subtle lighting.
